Part time Occupational Therapist with current or pursuing certification as a CHT.

nEvaluates patients, plans and implements an effective Occupational Therapy program based upon assessment, clinical judgement and psychological sensitivity for inpatients and/or outpatients with diverse diagnoses. Provides patient education, consultation and discharge planning, supervises and

delegates patient care to Certified Occupational Therapists Assistants, Rehab Technicians and Occupational Therapy students. Contributes to the growth of Occupational Therapy Services by assisting with the development of new programs and outcomes/research activities; acts as an operational and

clinical resource for staff in areas of expertise. n


nPatient Assessment and Treatment: Performs patient evaluations and treatments in alignment with the Occupational Therapy Practice Act and departmental policies and procedures to assess patient's functional deficits and identify recommendations for intervention utilizing advanced skills with minimal supervision throughout the entire span of life. A. Interprets physician referrals to identify rehab indications, contraindications and precautions for all diagnoses throughout the entire span of life. B. Conducts and interprets patient evaluations to determine functional deficits utilizing appropriate basic and advanced evaluation skills. C. Identifies patient and therapist goals for maximal function and quality outcomes that are objective, measurable and time specific. D. Develops, implements and progresses a treatment plan choosing appropriate techniques that incorporates patient and therapist goals to improve function and provides age specific treatment. E. Documents evaluation and treatment findings to meet legal and reimbursement requirements and completes necessary documentation and paperwork for communication in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.


nDocumentation: Performs required documentation for evaluation and treatment findings and communicates this in a competent, complete accurate, clear, concise and timely manner to meet patient and/or family needs, legal and regulatory requirements. Completes charges and billing documentation following managed care and insurance guidelines to ensure maximum reimbursement. Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee and departmental information to ensure patients rights.

nProgram/Staff Development: Contributes to the efficient and safe operation as well as to the innovation and strategic plan of the Rehab/Occupational Therapy Services by participating in delegated activities. A. Performs supervisory functions as designated in the absence of the clinical coordinators by resolving problems, scheduling staff and patients, handling patient/physician complaints. B. Assists with program development and projects by completing tasks as assigned. C. Assists in the orientation and training of new staff members by precepting and mentoring staff. D. Participates in quality improvement initiatives by presenting problems along with possible solutions to managerial staff, participates in monitoring indicators as well as ensures compliance. E. Exhibits time management skills by comple ing patient care responsibilities and assigned projects within allocated time frame. F. Complies with organizational requirements by adhering to LUHS and departmental policies and procedures (TJC, IDPH,OSHA,HCFA, etc). G. Educates other health care personnel on various aspects of Occupational Therapy by providing in-services as assigned.


nClinical Instruction: Supervises OT students by providing clinical experiences for affiliated schools. A. Orients students to adhere to departmental policies and procedures. B. Provides ongoing feedback regarding students performance by communicating verbally and in writing to the student, the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE) and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE). C. Evaluates student performance by completing evaluation forms with objective and measurable information at midterm and end of affiliation. D. Mentors students by exhibiting a receptive image, professional role modeling behaviors and being a resource to students for clinical education. E. Ensures safe and efficient patient care outcomes by delegating and supervision patient care assigned to OT students. F. Completes therapist and clinical instructor responsibilities by utilizing time management skills.
