The Registered Respiratory Therapist reports to the Lead Respiratory Therapist. The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides high quality respiratory care through demonstration of knowledge and application of HHN, CPT, IPPB, CPAP, BiPAP, Apnea Monitoring, Aerosol Therapy, Medication Administration, Oxygen Therapy, Invasive and Non-Invasive Mechanical Ventilation to patients in the alternative care setting. The Registered Respiratory Therapist will communicate when appropriate any concerns regarding care provided to those allied health professionals and physicians involved in the care of the patient. The Registered Respiratory Therapist will also complete all other duties as assigned by the Lead Respiratory Therapist. Education: Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care Program. Licensure: Licensed by the state of North Dakota to practice Respiratory Care. Current CPR certification (or completed within 60 days of employment). Valid drivers license. Experience: As compatible with that of a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Prefer two years experience in home care and/or acute care (adult and pediatric), but not required. Skills: Well developed oral and written communication skills. Good clinical evaluation skills. Mechanical aptitude required. Computer aptitude required. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively. Promotes positive working relationships among co-workers. Must show initiative and good judgement. Good organizational skills. Works in harmony and with a spirit of cooperation with the medical center's respiratory care department, home health care & hospice, physicians, and the general public. Physical Effort: Medium-heavy lifting 75 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 35 pounds. Hours of Work: Weekdays and weekends. Covering on-call coverage as scheduled, with extra hours when needed. Other: Is willing to work under the following conditions: Potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical, and infectious environmental hazards. Able to respond and perform effectively if an unforeseen immediate job-related need arises. Able to respond in stressful situations.
