Omni Hotels Lead Dual Licensed Massage Therapist in Boston, Massachusetts

Location

The 1,000 plus roomOmni Boston Hotel at the Seaportis expected to open early 2021 and will be a one-of-a-kind, two-tower, luxury property. The new hotel, located at 450 Summer Street in South Boston’s Seaport District, will feature a signature spa and fitness center, event terrace, elevated pool deck, multiple dining establishments, bar and a variety of retail venues. It will boast more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space and feature the largest hotel ballroom in Boston.

Job Description

The Lead Massage therapist is responsible for guest satisfaction in the spa by performing services to the best of their ability as well a providing support and training to fellow therapists and attendants.

Responsibilities

Lead Therapist Functions:

  • Training massage therapists on a regular basis as well as new hires to ensure everyone is up to date on skill and protocols needed to provide consistency and a true Omni spa experience.

  • Assisting the Spa Director with the hands-on portion of the interview process for new-hires and providing feedback based on the massage practical.

  • Weekly product stock check and refills for massage therapy supplies and massage retail items.

  • Restock everyday back stock items, like water bottles, laundry, gloves and cleaning supplies.

  • Portioning out product for therapists to ensure product cost management with back bar supplies.

  • Room cleanliness and presentation assistance for massage therapists. Ensuring technicians have what they need in between treatments. Coordinating special guest requests and circumstances regarding massage treatments.

  • Monitoring and enforcing the highest level of sanitation and cleanliness with all massage therapists in the spa as well as during treatments.

  • Assist with the decor of rooms as we expand back into additional treatment rooms and open lounges, locker rooms etc.

  • Keeping the therapists’ closet cleaned and organized for safety and efficiency.

  • Providing important massage related information and content for monthly OST meetings.

  • Communicating any issues directly to the Spa Director that need to be addressed.

  • Working with vendors when needed to provide onsite product knowledge for massage products.

  • Protocol development with Spa Director for new or updated treatments, such as wraps. Keeping up with industry trends and demands for particular treatments. Evaluating which treatments are selling well and which are not to ensure our menu provides the best possible offerings for our guests. Training therapists on any protocol adjustments and new treatments so the services provided are consistent and to brand.

  • Support for emergency massage situations. (Phone on, even on days off, to help meet the needs of our guests when a therapist becomes sick or calls off). Assisting management with any emergency situations that may come up with guests during their treatment.

  • Assisting with opening and closing the spa. Walking through each treatment room at these times to ensure they are up to standard for cleanliness, organization and presentation.

  • Regular weekend and busiest shift coverage to support the team and our guests.

  • Additional responsibilities may be added at the Spa Director’s discretion as needed.

    Therapist Functions:

  • Provide the very highest quality in terms of treatment and professional concept.

  • To work as part of the Spa therapy team to consistently provide the highest possible standard of treatment, creating a sensory journey for guests helping them to rest, relax and regain a sense of balance and harmony in their lives.

  • To begin and end treatments at the published time and ensure correct procedures of all treatments are being followed at all times.

  • Ensure all equipment and linens etc. are fully stocked on a day to day basis in your treatment room.

  • Ensure all inventory levels are accurate so that you are prepared for your day.

  • Ensure all guests depart with a completed prescription form after each and every service.

  • Strive to consistently produce a minimum of 10% in retail sales per day / week / month.

  • Ensure all professional stock is being used in compliance with the PAR levels to assist with reduction in product waste.

  • Responsible for setting up the treatment rooms according to procedures, and dispose of laundry on a timely basis.

  • Relay with confidence product and service benefit to guests.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in massage therapy preferably in an upscale salon or spa.

  • Proficient skills in traditional and modern forms of massage.

  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers.

  • Ability to maintain compliance to State Board sanitation/sterilization procedures.

  • Responsible and dependable with ability to fulfill on-call scheduling needs.

  • Commitment to exceeding the expectations of customers, always operating with a strong attention to detail to the client’s needs.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, managing back to back appointments in a high volume 4 diamond environment.

  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds with frequent bending, reaching overhead, and twisting.

  • Stand and/or sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift. Requires repetitive motion, with consistent use of hands and arms.

  • State of MA License required

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including every Saturday and Sunday
