We are looking for a Radiation Therapist for the Radiation Therapy Department at St. Jude Medical Center.

Location: Fullerton, CA

Work Schedule: Part Time

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Responsible for delivering accurately the prescribed, planned course of radiation therapy for patients of any age group inclusive of simulation, mold room duties, treatment, quality assurance, dosimetry and nursing assistance as requested by the Radiation Oncologist according to department, hospital and regulatory agency standards. Assesses situations, exercises care, uses discretion and judgment, assumes responsibility for professional decisions, and acts in the best interest of the patient.

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently demonstrates competence in the delivery of the prescribed, planned course of radiation therapy: reviews patient's chart, treatment plan, prescription, dosimetry, and set-up instructions prior to treatment procedures; and positions patients accurately during treatment.

  • Performs clear and concise documentation.

  • Assists in tumor localization procedures via port films or simulation with the Radiation Oncologist.

  • Utilizes current block cutting system and mounting system.

  • Assumes responsibility for portions of Quality Assurance and Quality control measures in order to comply with JCAHO, Title 17, and Title 22. As well as Radiation safety, hospital and department standards; regularly checks equipment, accessories, and supplies.

  • Port films are reviewed on a daily basis.


  • Knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, radiation physics, radiobiology, radiation protection, anatomy and positioning and dosimetry.

  • Knowledge of JCAHO, Title 17, Code of Federal Regulations, and Title 22 requirements as well as Radiation Safety, Safety, and Hospital and Department Standards.

  • Ability to safely and accurately operate the radiation therapy equipment, linear accelerators, simulators, and computers, treatment devices, quality assurance tools and other equipment for the delivery of radiation treatments.

  • Ability to follow directions and is accountable for analyzing and problem solving.

  • Ability to establish priorities, organize and complete work in a timely manner.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients and others.

  • Ability to perform necessary procedures and knowledge of age specific protocols as defined by the skills and competency checklist.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: Coursework/Training - Satisfactory completion of formal education program in radiation therapy.

Experience: 1 year experience.


  • CRT.

  • ARRT in Radiation Therapy or Radiology.

  • American Heart BLS Healthcare Provider level.
