Children's Home and Aid Youth and Family Post-Adoption Therapist in Herrin, Illinois

The Adoption Support & Preservation Program provides in-home services to families with children who have been adopted or for whom guardianship has been awarded through the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services. As a Therapist in the Adoption Support & Preservation Program you will provide intensive individual, family, and group therapy, case management, advocacy, and crisis intervention, all with a goal of preserving and strengthening families.

What you’ll do:

  • Meet with children (birth-18 years) and their families in their homes, providing trauma-informed, attachment-focused clinical interventions targeting individualized, collaboratively developed treatment plan goals.

  • Coordinate services with other relevant providers and develop appropriate referral plans.

  • Complete thorough and timely documentation, including assessment and service notes, using a web-based client services platform.

Who you are:

  • You have at least a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling, or a closely related field.

  • You have a valid Illinois clinical license (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT) or are licensure eligible.

  • You have experience with an evidence-based or evidence-informed treatment modality, such as Theraplay, the ARC framework, or other trauma-informed practice.

  • You are able to meet with families in their homes, and you have a valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.

  • You are an intuitive, nonjudgmental listener who easily builds relationships built on respect, trust and positive regard.

  • You are warm, flexible, and hold a strong belief that generational trauma can be healed through counseling.

  • You are detail-driven, highly organized, and enjoy working autonomously but are also excited by big-picture outcomes and the opportunity to innovate and collaborate with a team to reach shared goals.

  • You are looking for reflective, clinical supervision and opportunities for growth and training in your field.

The details:

  • Location: Hybrid (remote/in office). Therapy provided in homes in the southernmost 27 counties of Illinois, and central office is located in Herrin. Therapists may have the opportunity to work from the office or a remote location between client visits.

  • Schedule: Full-time, salaried; general business hours with some flexibility for evening appointments as needed to accommodate client schedules. Therapists participate in an on-call rotation to respond to after-hours crisis calls.

  • Salary: Range starts at $44,000 for licensed Therapists and $37,000 for licensure-eligible Therapists; offers are commensurate with experience

  • Clinical licensure: Licensure-eligible therapists receive weekly clinical supervision towards licensure, and reimbursement of clinical exam registration fees.
