PURPOSE OF POSITION

The purpose of this position is to provide skin care and related treatments such as waxing and applicable treatment upgrades with professionalism, personalized service and hospitality to guests of Spa Montage. Because of the importance of retail to the overall guest experience and performance of Spa Montage, estheticians are expected to graciously recommend retail products to guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide Spa services to guests in a timely, courteous and efficient manner.

  • Attend to any guest’s immediate needs throughout their Spa visit.

  • Assist in providing information to any inquiries, help to coordinate all guest requests for services and maintain impeccable cleanliness of the Spa including treatment spaces, back of house areas and any guest facing area.

  • Ensure guest comfort and safety throughout the treatment.

  • Ensure that all guest interactions are in accordance with Montage guidelines and standards.

  • Maintain work area with necessary supplies. Insure room is immaculate at all times (tables draped, counters and products clean, product inventory).

  • Assist with cleanliness of all spa areas including all locker rooms.

  • Attend all spa and resort related meetings and trainings.

  • Adhere to all time clock protocols

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Manager based upon the particular requirements of the Resort:

  • Provide direct service to guests as needed, including, but not limited to, administering all massage and related spa services as scheduled by the Spa Director or similar.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of individual treatment room according to Spa housekeeping guidelines.

  • Attends on-going training, CEU classes and departmental meetings and trainings.

  • Adheres to departmental and resort policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional duties as necessary and assigned

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must possess a current Esthetician and/or Cosmetology License as required by state, county law.

  • Specific training and certifications in skin care, specialty treatments and body treatments as necessary.

  • Must perform all services within the scope of practice that are available on the menu.

  • Must understand that treatments throughout the day will be fairly distributed amongst associates to ensure all scheduled associates have an opportunity to perform treatments regardless of job classification.

  • Ability to give a timely Spa service following all established protocols and using only products provided by the Spa.

  • Ensure guest comfort and safety throughout treatment.

  • Knowledge of draping procedures.

  • Ability to promote positive relations with all individuals who approach the Spa

  • Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guest information and pertinent hotel data

  • Knowledge of and ability to sell Spa products

  • Ability to keep room and all Spa areas clean to standards in keeping with 5 Star expectations

  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions.

  • Knowledge of Montage Resort and Spa operations.

  • Current CPR Certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.

  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the Resort on a timely basis.

  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.

  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally.

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.

  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.

  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education

High school or equivalent education required.

Experience

Five Years of Experience.

Licenses or Certificates

California State Esthetician License or Cosmetology License.

Grooming

All Associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Montage Resort and Spa standards. A conservative, simple and elegant style is preferred. While performing services, hair must be pulled out of the face so as not to interfere with the execution of the treatment.

Onsite attendance as needed is essential to the successful performance of this position.

Due to the fluctuation in business levels in the hospitality industry, Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Resort. In addition, attendance is required in scheduled training sessions and meetings.

All Associates are required to fully comply with company rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the Resort’s facilities. Associates who violate Resort rules and regulations will be subject to performance management, up to and including termination of employment.
