Sutter Health Occupational Therapist in Los Gatos, California

Position Overview:


The Occupational Therapist, under general supervision, evaluates and treats patients using purposeful activity to promote health and achieve functional outcome. Achieving functional outcomes means to develop, improve, or restore the highest possible level of independence of any individual who is limited by a physical injury or illness, a dysfunctional condition, a cognitive impairment, a psychological dysfunction, a mental illness or learning disability or an adverse environmental condition.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Evaluates the patient's funcational level of activities using standardized or non-standardized tests and observations and reviewing the patient's medical history including the physician's diagnosis and presciptions.

  • Establishes short and long term goals based on the therapist's evaluations and the goals for the patient and the family, then established a plan of treatment in a timely manner. Discusses goals of treatment, methods of treatment, and eventually outcomes with patients.



Education, including Licensure / Certification / Registration

  • Current license as an Occupational Therapist required

  • Minimum of AA degree required

  • Current, certified NBCOT (National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy) required

  • Meets states regulatory requirements required

  • Current AHA BLS/CPR certification required


  • Hand experience preferred
