Position Summary: The Occupational Therapist / Mental Health Counselor is accountable for providing Sensory Integration services as part of the IRTS clinical team. This includes evaluation, assessment, implementation, treatment, program planning, communication, education, and documentation of Sensory interventions, as well as IRTS services. Services are provided in the form of one-to-one interaction and short-term groups. Major Job Duties: Conducts assessments and evaluations of the needs of patients suffering from a variety of cognitive, emotional and physical illnesses Plans and implements treatment programs and the development of treatment plans designed to improve deficit areas of physical, cognitive and/or emotional functioning and to maximize the patient's independence in life skills Provides patient performance data to treatment team Documents treatment activities and patient care within professional and departmental guidelines Educates/teaches clients in performance areas where deficits interfere with patients' return to community living. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy (ACOTE); includes completion of a 6-month internship in required areas of Occupational Therapy Experience: One year or 2000 hours supervised experience with SPMI (Serious Persistent Mental Illness) adults Additional education AND previous experience in Sensory Integration Residential Mental Health experience a plus, but not required Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Eligible for registration as an Occupational Therapist with the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapists (NBCOT) or the successful completion of the National Certification Exam and licensure with the State of Minnesota Additional Information: We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
