THIS IS NOT A REMOTE OR TELEHEALTH POSITION. This a community-based counseling position in Augusta, GA. We service Burke, Columbia, McDuffie, and Richmond counties.Reports to: Team LeaderOrganizational Background:Still Waters Professional Counseling Services in Augusta, GA, provides in-home and in-office mental health services for children, adolescents, and adults. Our mission is to provide the highest quality of mental health services to individuals and families in need of counseling, crisis intervention, and prevention in the most appropriate, educational, and accessible manner.Position Purpose:Counselors will place emphasis on prevention and/or behavior modification. The counselors will work with adults and children to promote optimum mental health. May help adults deal with addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting, and marital problems; and children with suicide; stress management; problems with self-esteem; and issues associated with aging and mental and emotional health.Key Responsibilities:*Complete all documentation based on clinical experience and knowledge*Collect information about clients through interviews, observation, and tests*Perform drug screenings for clients if needed.*Evaluate clients physical or mental condition based on review of client information*Maintain confidentiality of records relating to client's treatment*Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress to measurable goals described in treatment and care plan*Complete documentation within 48 hours of providing services* Act as client advocates to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.* Assess clients for risk of suicide* Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.* Collect information about clients through interviews, observation, and tests.* Counsel clients and patients, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.* Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients or patients.* Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.* Discuss with individual clients their plans for life after leaving therapy.* Encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.* Evaluate clients' physical or mental condition based on review of client information.* Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.* Fill out and maintain client-related paperwork, including federal- and state-mandated forms, client diagnostic records, and progress notes.* Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.* Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems.* Learn about new developments by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.* Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.* Meet with families, probation officers, police, and other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.* Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed to comply with changes in clients' status.* Plan and conduct programs to prevent substance abuse or improve community health and counseling services.* Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.* Refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.Working Days / Hours of work:Must meet with team leader weekly.Counselor makes own schedule based on the availability of the client's served and their needs.Efficient at using telehealth to service clients, due to COVID-19 precau
