Olathe Medical Center Respiratory Therapist RRT in Paola, Kansas

Job Summary:

We welcome you to join the Respiratory Therapy department team as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. You will perform respiratory care interventions in accordance with the standards established by the American Association of Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Guidelines and MCMC Respiratory Care Policy. Under the supervision of the Manager and Lead Practitioner and upon a physician's order, the Registered Respiratory Therapist assesses the cardiopulmonary status of patients of all ages (neonate through geriatric) and provides various types of respiratory diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, based on individual patient needs. An integral function of this position is providing patient education to enhance wellness. Registered Respiratory Therapists are expected to support the mission, vision and values of Miami County Medical Center, Inc.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 Year / Associate Degree Respiratory Therapy Minimum

  • Any Job Related Experience Minimum

  • Respiratory Therapy Licensure by the state of Kansas Minimum Upon Hire

  • Healthcare Provider CPR – (American Heart Association or American Red Cross ONLY) Minimum Upon Hire

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) ACLS when working in facilities that provides Critical Care scope of service and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) when working in facilities that provide neonatal scope of service. Minimum 1 Year

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Assesses each patient per departmental specific standards, within an age-specific context, and documents appropriately. Demonstrates ability to manage respiratory needs of all patients. The priority of data collection is determined by the client's immediate condition or needs. Data collection involves the client, significant others, and health care providers when appropriate. The data collection process is systematic and on going.

  • Accurately enters appropriate charge data in accordance with Departmental procedure.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in serving as a clinical preceptor when orienting new employees and performing clinical instruction of students. Provides patients with necessary or ordered education about their cardiopulmonary issues.

  • Consistently uses two patient identifiers during patient and specimen processing interventions, in accordance with MCMC policy.

  • Consistently reads back verbal orders and lab results when communicating with physicians prior to transcription of the orders and/or results.
