POSITION PURPOSE: To accurately assess and provide treatment to handicapped students in an effort to reach maximum academic potential of each student. Ability to interact with students, staff and parents. Ability to maintain an accurate file for accounting purposes.
Evaluate and assess each referred student.
Develop a plan of treatment based on the assessment.
Interact with teachers in: developing therapy schedules; following treatment strategies and activities in the classroom; and handling and positioning of the child.
Interact with parents concerning student progress.
Provide in-service to teachers and parents to ensure treatment carry-over, in-services for proper biomechanical process during the handling and transferring of students.
Maintain accurate filing system for accountability purposes.
Attend IEP meetings to correlate a total treatment package for each student.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Chief Instructional Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent. QUALIFICATIONS:
BA or MA degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program as determined by the Superintendent.
Currently licensed and /or eligible for licensure from the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
Experience working with school age children preferred.
Bilingual skills preferred.
Minimum of three years experience as a licensed Physical Therapist.
