Position: Occupational Therapist
Site: University Centre, Toronto Rehab

Reports to: Manager, Program Services
Salary: $36.01 - $45.02 per hour
Hours: 18.75 hours (0.5 FTE) Weekdays
Status: Temporary Part time (Up to March 31, 2022)
The Occupational Therapist (OT) is an integral member of the outpatient rehab team, allied health and clinical programs in which care is provided. Through the provision of individual and group-based patient and non-patient care activities, the OT efficiently and effectively enhances the quality of life of patients by helping them to prevent, alleviate, or minimize dysfunction to facilitate their successful engagement in meaningful activities at home, in the community or workplace. As a crucial and valued member of the interprofessional team, the OT provides comprehensive assessment, treatment, and consultation services primarily for patients recovering from cancer treatment or with chronic pain conditions. Other clinical populations served include patients with general musculoskeletal issues and traumatic injuries.
The OT also develops and maintains patient resources; collaborates with the interprofessional team to provide patient-focused care; communicates effectively with patients, families, and team members; provides training and supervision for Student Occupational Therapists; participates in quality management, program development, and research initiatives; complies with and commits to patient safety responsibilities and hospital plans, policies, and procedures; and performs other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
At minimum, successful completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (B.Sc. (OT))
Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) is required
Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada (on employment) is required
Membership with an OT Professional Association (i.e., CAOT or OSOT) is preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) is required
The ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and to function in an independent, self-directed manner is required
Previous experience working as an OT in a physical medicine and rehabilitation setting is required
Previous experience working with oncology and chronic pain is preferred
Previous experience with Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is preferred
The OT must demonstrate competence with departmental and hospital safety, emergency, and infection control procedures
The OT must demonstrate computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new software as needed
