Park Manor Speech Therapist in Walla Walla, Washington

The Lead Therapist is responsible for managing and supervising the department when working with a Program Manager or Speech Language Pathology services as assigned. The primary job focus is to meet patient needs, to achieve the services goals and objectives, and to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. The Lead Therapist provides in-service education and training for the service staff and other facility personnel on an ongoing basis.The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing rehabilitative therapy to patients upon referral for communication, cognitive and/or swallowing disorders following all regulatory and clinical practice requirements. This includes recovery, improvement in function and when possible, a return to a prior level of functioning. Clinical documentation will describe objective measures and justification for continued or discontinued services.Educational Requirements:• Must be a graduate of an accredited program in Speech Language Pathology Specific Requirements: • Must hold current and active State license or registration and National Certification• Two years’ experience in long-term care or related setting preferred• Supervisory experience preferredWORKING CONDITIONS: • Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors and is exposed to dust, disinfectants, hazardous chemicals, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.• Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitors, or others.• Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including Tuberculosis and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.Physical Mental and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices)• Move intermittently throughout the work day.• Speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.• Cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.• Possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.• Meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which include a medical and physical examination.• Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
